Description

This one-day clinic will cover the essential principles and standard practices involved in building strong and efficient ice anchors, and include plenty of guided practice time. Participants will learn the techniques and background needed to build safe anchors for three common ice climbing situations: top rope anchors for single pitch cragging, anchors for multipitch ice climbs, and descent anchors for rappelling an ice route.

The primary focus will be on optimizing screw placements for safety and efficiency, but the clinic will also include anchors that involve rock protection or natural features such as trees, boulders and ice columns, as well as fixed anchors seen at ice parks.

Suggested Experience: Some prior knowledge of rock anchors is preferred but not required

Capacity: 8, Free for festival atendees
